Album Review- Rihanna// Unapologetic

Seven years ago pop icon Rihanna was introduced to the world as a shy island girl from Barbados, who many feared would not succeed past her first solo album.  Fast forward six albums later and the pop singer is now one of the industries most celebrated and accomplished artist.

Officially as of today the singer has twelve #1 singles to her name. Rihanna has managed to surpass some of musics top veterans including the late great Whitney Houston, proving that her star power in a dwindling industry packs one hell of a punch as her new album 'Unapologetic' hits the shelves!

Baring all of herself for the world to see the newly crowned princess of pop has become one of the top followed artist on social networks across the board, and the top artist on Facebook.   Showcasing an unmatched love for her adoring fans, which she refers to as the #RihannaNavy this superstar at the mere age of twenty-four is destined for greatness.

Standout Tracks
'Diamonds'-  The lead single from the record introduced the world to a more subdued artist than her previous released singles.  Diamonds is not a dance record by any form and has sort of a folk/hippy sound.  The repetition of the song along with the softness gives Rihanna an edge that she had been lacking until now as a well rounded artist.

'Loveee Song'- One of the best slow jam records that Rihanna has possibly ever recorded.  The song stands true to who rihanna is style wise, but also shows rihanna using her natural tone (not so many enhancements).  Future had no business being on this record, the pop superstar would have carried it off well without him and his heavily auto-tuned voice.

'Jump'-  A solid pop record that makes me jump for joy.  Rihanna samples R&B singer Ginuwine's hit 'Pony,' as she sings the racy lyrics over a electronic beat. The song by far has potential to be one of the official singles from the album.

'Stay'- ft. Mikky Ekko- A piano led ballad, with absolutely no studio gimmicks.  The tracks allows us to appreciate Rihanna's voice in entirety.  Not known for being a vocal beast like many of her peers the pop-goddess exudes flawless emotion and vocal control on the record. Definitely single potential.  Beautiful!

'Nobody's Business'- ft. Chris Brown-  Have you ever heard a song so good, that you want to hate it?  Well this is one of those records.  Instantly the song is so infectious that it finds its way into your blood stream.  Chris and Rihanna confess their undying love for each other reminding the world that it "Ain't none of their business."  For sure this song will be the next single from the record, and an instant hit with fans and critics alike. Pop Perfection!!!!

So So Moments

"Lost In Paradise" & "Get it Over With"- Both nicely written ballads and overall great to listen too, but nothing groundbreaking that makes me feel as if I couldn't live without listening to these records.

Other Standout Tracks
( Phresssh Off the Runway, Love Without Tragedy, )

 Final Thoughts

Rihanna is one busy girl and has officially snatched the title of being the music industries most hardest working woman.  Not only did she finally put her hand in on writing twelve of the albums tracks the singer also executive produced the record showing that she is more than just a pretty face and voice to sell records.  With each record the singer is coming to her own as business woman, and artist!

Album Review- Keyshia Cole// Woman to Woman

It has been  just short of two years since R&B singer Keyshia Cole released her last studio album 'Calling all Hearts,' but the soulful artist has returned with a new record simply titled 'Woman to Woman.'

Created for the ladies and her die hard fans Woman finally places Keyshia in a lane of her own amongst an industry full of hungry R&B divas.

The now married mother of one, found herself struggling to balance out her new life with the persona that she had created so many years ago.  Going back to the drawing board and the root of what her fans really enjoyed from her Cole has managed to release a contemporary R&B record full of soulful, yet radio friendly tracks that are true to her artistry.

Standout Tracks

'Enough of No Love'- ft. Lil Wayne- The lead single from the record , Cole expresses her disgust in a relationship full of no love.  Cole's hood-girl attitude takes the record just where it needed to go.  Finally getting back to what her fans love Keyshia gives a small taste of what is to come.  Could have done without Lil Wayne, but I digress!!

'Trust & Believe'- A home run record that proves that Cole is a better vocalist than many give her credit to be.  Trust is a more than solid record, not only does it showcase her husky voice quite effortlessly the lyrics are so relate able to just about everybody out there going through it with a lying cheating- no good for nothing man.  I'm convinced that nobody can sing about heartache-break, or burn better than Keyshia.

'Woman to Woman'- ft. Ashanti-  A beautiful track that Keyshia initially hoped to record with R&B veteran Brandy.  Unfortunately things didn't work out, but I'm not mad at all because Ashanti held her own on the record.  Surprisingly the two compliment each other very well on the record.  Woman is a impressively well written record worthy of being the title track to a solid body of work.

'Wonderland'- ft. Elijah Blake-  A more soul-try side of the R&B diva that we aren't use to hearing.
Begging for love and passion from one another, Cole and Blake give you sex that isn't too direct rather more sophisticated.   The record delivers on one high note after another..

'I Chose You'-   If you thought Keyshia was sanging before just sit back and relax while she takes you on this vocal roller coaster. With a ode to old school R&B music, this soul-ballad is one blazing number. Keyshia may very well have a quick hit on the Adult Contemporary charts for it is by far one of her most solid records to date.

'Stubborn'-  Boasting one of the most infectious beats from the entire record, stubborn finds Keyshia jumping in and out of her full vocal register to a more delicate and smooth tone.  The bass throughout the record gives it a more hip-hop vibe that allows for crossover appeal, in fact the song could make for a good single. Keyshia still manages to use her husky vocals to the best of their potential no matter the vibe of the record Cole supplies a healthy dose of emotion.

Other Standout Tracks
( Hey Sexy, Next Move, Zero)

Final Thoughts

I've never been one to count Keyshia Cole Gibson out.  Even at her worse she has always managed to put out a solid effort.  Thankfully Woman is perfect in ever way.  Going back to her roots and giving her fans who are still going through the struggle what they want, while managing to showcase a little of her own personal happiness Cole has managed to create an R&B album for every woman and hell some men.  The album is mature, gritty, and possibly timeless..

New Video: 'Ice' by Kelly Rowland

The wait is over!!  R&B beauty Kelly Rowland has officially released the long awaited video for her single 'Ice,' ft. Lil Wayne.  The song which was released over the summer got off to a slow start, but has since found its footing blazing up the charts.

Rowland & a bevy of half-naked gay men serve pure sex in this video.  Kelly has stepped her fresh up in every way possible.  All of the world will undoubtedly be talking about Kelly's fierceness in the hours to come.  It seems the former Dc3 singer has finally found her place in music standing firmly on her own two feet.

New Video: 'Trust And Believe' by Keyshia Cole

Moments ago R&B singer Keyshia Cole released the visual for her blazing new single 'Trust And Believe.'  Trust is lifted from the divas new album 'Woman to Woman,' in stores Nov 19th.

Yess Keyshia!!

I'm such a big Keyshia Cole fan and from the moment this song leaked online I was all over it because I knew its potential.  Let me say that I'm so happy to see Cole going back to her roots and delivering music that originally made her fans love her.  Many of you will argue about growth, but in my opinion Keyshia has not only grown vocally, but as a songwriter and a woman.  Trust is where its at!!

New Video: 'Diamonds' by Rihanna

As promised Rihanna has released the video for  'Diamonds,' the hit single from her new album 'Unapologetic' in stores Nov. 19th!! Check the beauty's latest visual below....

Not only does Rihanna look absolutely amazing in the video she's giving us pure art.  Diamonds is an exceptionally directed video, with such a strong concept kudos to Anthony Mandler.  There is no doubt this video will take the song straight to the #1 spot.  Mistake not RiRi is becoming one of the best visual artist out!!

Sidenote:  Did you guys catch the cameo from Chris Brown??

New Video: 'Die Young' by Ke$ha

Pop singer Ke$ha is proving to be more than a one album wonder with her new single 'Die Young' which is currently climbing the charts and sitting peacefully in the top 10 on Billboards hot 100!! Check the video below....

Ke$ha is definitely trying her best to become pop royalty.  Rocking a noticeably cleaner image and a slimmer physique, the pop singer has jumped clearly stepped her performance level up a notch.  Hopefully its enough to take her from just being another auto-tuned monster to a true superstar!!
